I have it only for a couple of months, but it looks well built and does not have obviously weak parts to break in the near future.I have two doorways between the living room and the kitchen. I first bought an auto-close gate of another popular brand, it looked so beatuiful but I soon found the latch's too easy to shake open. You can imagine if a light weight gate can swing back and lock itself, how weak the lock feature has to be. I ended up tighting the gate to the point that nobody can open it. I cannot block both doorways like that, so I picked this gate for the other doorway. I can open and close the gate with one hand while carrying my child in the other. My 18 month old (she is very tall an strong in her age group) cannot open the gate though she can reach the latch, because the latch is very tight. The gate is easy to install and stay in place well.
